Yemenia Airways has announced the launch of direct flights between the island of Socotra and the city of Jeddah, in a move aimed at facilitating air transport and supporting tourism activity on the island.
The airline’s Deputy Commercial Director, Mr. Mohsen Haidarah, stated that the first direct flight is scheduled to operate on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, with the primary purpose of evacuating foreign touri
sts who have been stranded on Socotra due to operational circumstances experienced in recent periods.
Haidarah explained that the company plans to subsequently schedule regular and continuous weekly flights between Jeddah and Socotra, a step that will contribute to boosting tourism opportunities on the island and preserving its status as a global tourist destination that attracts visitors from around the world.
He emphasized that this initiative comes as part of Yemenia Airways’ broader strategy to strengthen air connectivity with key destinations and facilitate passenger movement, in a manner that supports the local economy and helps keep Socotra firmly positioned on the international tourism map.
